Brought to you by Community Food Centres Canada

More money, not food, will ensure people can afford to put good food on the table. That belief is at the root of the changes Community Food Centres Canada called for in our Beyond Hunger report one-and-a-half years ago and it still holds true today. Working together, we have the strength as a network to get the federal government to give more money to those that need it most. Join us for our Advocacy Action workshop series to learn more about and help shape our advocacy work for the coming year:

Background: Federal Budget Analysis

On April 7, 2022, the federal government tabled its latest budget. While Community Food Centres Canada was disappointed that it did not make commitments on income support for working age adults or for people living with disabilities, it made progress on key social programs. The budget committed funding to social and affordable housing, the national childcare program and national dental care. It also committed to work in the coming year on Pharmacare, Employment Insurance reforms and a National School Food Policy. Read CFCC’s full federal budget analysis to see the gains we’ve made, what the federal government is promising, and where there’s still more work to be done.
